Wind It Up

We equipped Polytech with vital tools and know-how to support their ambitious sustainability goals for 2025.

The Partnership

Changing the way we power our planet.

Polytech brings sustainable solutions to life, improving the durability and performance of wind turbines. Founded in 1994, Polytech manufactures leading edge protection, lightning protection, and blade add-ons for windmills and provides blade monitoring and optimization. Today it is a front-runner in wind power innovation and a trusted partner to major players in the wind industry, with locations in Denmark, China, Germany, and Mexico.

Polytech has long realized that what it does right today will benefit tomorrow's generations. Therefore, it wishes to expand its current climate strategy and systematically drive sustainability efforts as part of the business strategy in the future.

That is also why Polytech and SustainX initiated a partnership in 2021 to strengthen Polytech’s sustainability activities.

Why SustainX?

“Because we wish to be a beacon for sustainability in the wind industry.” Polytech

What we did

  • SDG certification from Bureau Veritas
  • Development of KPI & target setting
  • Current state analysis
  • Climate accounting
  • CSR report and sustainability report
  • Internal sustainability education
  • Governance structure

Key activities from the first year of the partnership.

Together with Polytech, we have implemented various sustainability activities. Here are some of the most important ones.

01.

Current State Analysis

We analyzed Polytech's current market position in order to improve the conditions for carring out future sustainability activities. This was conducted through a Current State Analysis with subactivities such as Maturity Matrix, PESTEL, ESG Positioning, and Materiality Assessment. We used the findings to support Polytech’s mission to become a frontrunner for sustainability in the wind industry.

02.

CO2eq Baseline

It was important for Polytech to establish a picture of its CO2 emissions to track the development of its sustainability efforts. Therefore, SustainX collected data to calculate Polytech’s CO2 baseline using the Green House Gas Protocol standard. The baseline will be used to benchmark Polytech’s future sustainable development and include a scope 1 and scope 2 analysis. From a scope 1 and 2 analysis, Polytech can also understand which current activities have the highest impact on the environment, making data-based decisions on which initiatives to prioritize.

03.

Educational Training

Polytech works actively with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7, 12, 13, and 14. Polytech employees, therefore, recently completed SustainX Academy’s online courses on the selected SDGs. The intention was to strengthen understanding and motivation of the selected goals and how employees can incorporate relevant activities in their daily work.

04.

Sustainability Goals

On its ambitious journey to expand its current climate strategy, SustainX and Polytech has developed six sustainability targets to achieve by 2025.
